Japanese traditional paper fan. Estimated early to mid century. Uchiwa fans are fixed rather than folding. This one is made with paper and bamboo with a wooden handle. The design is very interesting as it is made up of layers, almost like a collage. The back layer is a man in traditional Edo wear in a boat, the bamboo sticks frame the image with a green top layer featuring bamboo leaves.
