Vintage Japanese artisan made textile.

Length:
144cm / 56" (Sewn into a ring, 72cm / 28")
Width:
46cm / 18" wide

Hand loomed cotton, hand dyed with indigo.

Shibori dying technique.

The geometric shapes combine straight lines with blurred edges. I can't help being reminded of stars, space or even lightning.

Condition is absolutely excellent. The dye is rich and deep and there are no marks, stains or discoloured parts.

lightweight and soft.

It is a long piece sewn into a ring.

Initially, I thought these were sleeves, however I have since learned they were intended for use as diapers. A shibori of this quality would have been used by a wealthy family. I can assure you that the textile is clean and unused!

Wear it as an infinity scarf. Make it into a cushion. Attach it to a canvas as a wall hanging.
