Vintage traditional Japanese apron, known as maekake in Japanese. Both men and women wear these aprons.

Very hard wearing. This one a strong denim.
Good for the workshop, studio, garage, kitchen or grilling in the garden.

It has been dyed with the tsutsugaki technique. A paste is applied by hand before dipping in indigo dye.

Vintage/new maekake are worn by Japanese today and are associated with any kind of business wishing to express an affinity to traditional Japan, but are the most visible in restaurants, bars, markets stalls, etc.
