Antique Japanese woven indigo textile. Dating back to early 1900s the cotton threads were hand dyed in natural indigo and hand woven into this fine design. This was likely once part of a formal kimono. It looks like the type of ikat that would have been used to make school uniforms. This is a very high quality cotton fabric.

There is some discoloration due to age which has softened the white to a beige. It is made up of five pieces and has two boro patches. This is hard to believe when looking at the front as the stitching is so tight and neat you can not see it.
