This book was once a trusty companion of an elementary student in the Meiji era. It is a textbook on moral study and is beautifully illustrated. \

Each page is folded before binding but the paper is still surprisingly light weight. It is bound with string.

Width: 15cm / 5.9"

Japanese books are read the opposite way to western books. The spine is on the right. Open the front page from left to right and hold the weight of the book in your left hand. A strange feeling :)

This is a wonderful addition to an eclectic antique book collection.

The paper could also be used in an artistic project. I believe the book would be relatively easy to dismantle without damaging the paper.
