Length: 322cm / 3.5 yrds. Width: 28cm / 11".

Sakiori is a traditional Japanese weaving technique using fabric strips and scraps. It lies in the tradition of mottainai (no waste) and is the product of hours of skilled home weaving. This obi is typical peasant clothing of Edo period until early Showa. This is estimated as Showa era, early to mid 1900s.

It is stunning, many hours have gone into this.

A wonderful example of Japanese folk art.

Absolutely ready to wear or be displayed as a wall hanging or table runner.
