Antique cotton of Taisho era. Early 1900s.

Hand loomed. Dyed with natural indigo. Very fine weave. This is a very dark blue, it looks black.

This is shyousei gasuri which would have been used to make a students 'uniform' kimono. The quality is in the fine detailed weave.

Extremely high quality cotton, artisan made.

It was once part of a kimono and has been taken apart for reuse. There is a 10cm split into the selvedge 38cm from one end of the the fabric and would have helped form the collar.

The condition is excellent, almost as new. There is some discoloration from age / storage.
