Antique cotton of Taisho era. Early 1900s.

Hand loomed. Dyed with natural indigo. Very fine weave. This is a very dark blue, it is not black.

This is kagasuri. 'Ka' is the Japanese word for mosquito and here it refers to the tiny dots. The quality is in the fine detailed weave.

Extremely high quality cotton, artisan made. This is shyousei gasuri which would have been used to make a students 'uniform' kimono.

It was once part of a kimono and has been taken apart for reuse. The condition is excellent, almost as new.
