This is shyousei gasuri which would have been used to make a students 'uniform' kimono. The quality is in the fine detailed weave.
Antique cotton of Taisho era. Early 1900s.
It is half of a full width and has only one selvedge. It was once part of a kimono and has been taken apart for reuse. The condition is excellent, almost as new.
Hand loomed. Dyed with natural indigo. Very fine weave. This is a very dark blue, it is not black.
Extremely high quality cotton, artisan made.
