Bingata is hand dyed fabric of Okinawa. A stencil is used to build up colorful layers. A highly prized traditional textile of Japan. Superior quality silk. Formal obi/sash to be worn over kimono.
The obi is Nagoya style which means it has been folded in half part way down and stitched together. Of course, it could be worn as is. However, if you were planning to make it into a table runner, for example, the thinner end can be unpicked and opened out.
