Vintage Japanese happi coat. High quality, soft ikat cotton.

Happi are coats traditionally worn at festivals. Families, local groups or companies would have their own happi that members of their group could wear. They may also be worn by employees to identify them as staff.

The left side reads: Kita-Kyusyu, Yahata, Tobata which is the area name. The last two mean market. On the right it reads Kita-Kyusyu Timber Market Cooperative Association

Excellent vintage condition with no marks or stains.

These jackets are worn by both men and women.

The size of the form / mannequin is a women's US 6 to 8.

I would say this is a large. It is wider than many of the others I have.

However, due to the style of the garment it could be M/L, perhaps even S, depending on how you want it to look.

The measurements are taken laying flat. Double the pit to pit measurement for the chest size.

length: 68cm / 26.77"
Pit to pit: 67cm / 26.37"
Cuff to cuff across the back: 133cm / 52.36"
