Traditional Japanese kasuri cotton. Vintage, early 1900s.

Length: 72cm / 28". Width: 35cm / 13.77"

There are repetitive light brown marks down the length from storage. Otherwise in excellent condition.

Kasuri is the Japanese word for ikat. Traditional Japanese kasuri is woven from indigo dyed cotton. The most common type is machine woven cotton made in Taisho / early Showa era. This is often referred to as Bingo kasuri after a popular brand. Splash patterns are repetitive shapes such as this. The finer the pattern, the higher the quality.
